About

More people are asking ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity where to eat, who to hire, and what to buy instead of typing a search query. Those assistants read the web differently than a person does: they follow robots.txt, they mostly don't run JavaScript, and they trust structured data (schema.org markup) over a page's visual layout. A site built to look good in a browser can still be invisible to the systems now doing the recommending.

What the check does

Searchable fetches a site the way an AI crawler would, not the way a browser would, and checks it against four things: whether the crawlers are actually let in, whether there's enough real text on the page to describe the business, whether machine-readable schema.org data exists to state facts instead of leaving them to be inferred, and whether the site agrees with the business's Google listing. Paid accounts get that same check run monthly, so a fix a hosting change or plugin update silently undoes doesn't go unnoticed for a quarter.

Who runs it

Searchable is built and run by one person, Tyler Thompson. There's no support team behind the contact address and no sales team behind the pricing page -- just the person who wrote the audit logic. That also means it's a young, actively developed product: if something looks wrong or missing, say so.
